A nice bit of news from Microsoft. Now under public review is the following; “Azure Virtual Machine Backup allows you to create enhanced policies to take multiple snapshots per day. Azure Backup understands your need to protect mission-critical workloads in Azure Virtual Machines and now offers a preview of a low recovery point objective (RPO) to just four hours.

With this capability, you can define the duration in which your backup jobs are activated and tailor your backup schedule to work hours when there are frequent updates. Understanding your need for higher retention in instant restore, enhanced policies are designed to provide instant restore retention with a default retention of seven days and a maximum of 30 days. This ensures minimal data loss in case of corruption or updates.”
